Week 9 - Tubthumping

James Conner (DAN) was this week's high scorer with 38.3 points!
We now have a 2-way tie at the top with Jim and Dan holding pat last week. Lauren and Matt are the next cohort at 6-2 followed by Raheel and Alexis at 5-3. It gets a little ugly after that so we are moving on...

Championship Belt:
Dan snagged the belt from Lauren last week. After Jim's six week reign the belt hasn't stopped moving. Let's see if Anthony can keep the trend going.

Reasons to Watch:
Go Big Reddick (12) vs. Punt Intended (6) - Bad luck continues to haunt Ali as a decent week went to waste against Raheel. Let's not forget she is carrying on despite essentially not having a 1st or 2nd round pick as Dalvin Cook has been MIA and Jerick McKinnon went down early with injury. Fantasy can be cruel but a new day is upon us and another chance to get into the win column. If she could just get some production out of that 2nd RB slot (and if Brady could throw a freaking touchdown this week!) she would be in decent shape.

Alexis is coming off a tough week where the heart of her team was on a bye. She'll look to rebound now that her Chargers have returned but they'll have a tough test in what is expected to be a cold and rainy day in Seattle. She is in a good position to make a run into the playoffs and getting all her byes weeks out of the way now can only help her achieve that goal.

Pending Alexis' TE choice, Ali gets the last word in Monday.

Humility (wait for the end):

Dickey Doo and the Click Clack (11)  vs. The Donkey Punchers (5) - Nate's WR corps had a rough go last week with John Brown and DT providing just 11 points. The real dagger was the usually reliable Ravens defense laying an egg in Carolina. His match up this week won't be much easier but he should have some help with the return of Ekeler and Sanu.

Raheel rolled to another strong victory last week. Wilson, Gurley, White and Evans put up enough points to beat most of the teams all by themselves. While a repeat is certainly possible, he'll have a few additional challenges this week. Steady WR Tate has a new home and a bye because of it, Sony Michel is slated to return and eat up some of James White carries and Gurley and Evans have pulled tough assignments this week. In fact, for the first time this season the Rams won't be the favorite in Vegas. Then again, who know, all of this could matter or none of it. Fantasy is fickle.

Nate kicks it off and Raheel brings it home.

More work than I thought:

Straight Outta Scottsdale (10) vs. Butt Growl (1) - Mike had some bad luck last week as flags robbed him of a couple of scores. Throw in  ZekEwok taking the day off and it was a tough go. It is going to be tough sledding again this week.

Jim kept rolling last week. Every RB on his entire roster scored a TD last week. Just crazy. Not only did he hit on his his two keepers but his first rounder as well. It's been a great season for him and he is in prime position to make a deep playoff run.

Still some choice to be make here but it looks like Mike kicks it off and Jim brings it home.

Throwing shade:

Gemini Irregulars (9) vs. Matty Ice (4) Ted eked out another win on the back of Jules fantastic day and in spite of Njoku and the VIkings defense disappearing. He'll have a much harder hill to climb this week as Jeffery, OBJ  and Yeldon are all on bye. This has lead to some predictably terrible roster decision. Exhibit A, starting Amari Cooper. Exhibit B, pretending one game turns around a players season (Looking at you DeVante). Ugh.

Matt continues his redemption season. Waiver gem Adrian Peterson is still turning back the clock and Diggs and Sanders lead a stout receiving corps. The return of Greg the Leg and a tasty match up for the Bears defense could spell trouble for his opponent.

Ted and Exhibit A will finish this one on Monday night.

I disagree. Kroenke deserves every bit of this...

Get Ricarded (8) vs. No Place Like Mahomes (2)  Anthony give it a good go last week but a no show by Watson and sub-par day from Shepard doomed him. Those mistakes have been corrected and newcomer Courtland Sutton will be thrown right into the mix this week due to some rough bye weeks.

Dan's season is the antithesis of Jim's in one important respect. While Jim built his team through the draft, Dan's studs (minus D-Hop) came from the waiver wire. Mahomes, Conner and Kittle have been outstanding this season and he'll turn to them again this week.

Dan has the first and last player in this match up.

One of these things is not like the other....

The Real Gabasaur (7) vs. Sailor Wenis (3) - Gabe had solid week. With the exception of Uzomah and Bailey, he put up double digits across the board.  He'll be even more dangerous this week with the return of Matt Ryan and presumably a fully healthy Rob Gronkowski. In a surprising turn of events, he is dumping the Pats and is turning to the 49ers this week. I'd pick on Gruden too. They seem to be in full tank mode.

Lauren's team went full boom or bust last week. Seems her players scored 20+ points or <6 points with nothing in between. Gore, Golladay, Hilton, Tucker and the Browns DST were all no shows last week. She has already made adjustments for many of those positions but Mixon's bye has forced her hand on Gore again this week.

They'll finish this one up on Monday night.
